The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) filed a reference today (May 21) against Sindh Assembly Speaker (AS) Agha Siraj Durrani over alleged assets beyond means, illegal recruitments and embezzlement in building construction funds.
The investigation officer submitted a progress report, stating the NAB chairman has given the go-ahead to the filing of a reference against the PPP leader. However, he asked the judge to give him time for the binding of the reference copy.
The court adjourned the hearing of the case until May 30 and sent Durrani to prison on judicial remand until the next hearing.
Agha Siraj Durrani was arrested on Feb 20 from a hotel in Islamabad and was brought to Karachi the same night. On Feb 21, he was produced before the accountability court that sent him on a 14-day physical remand.
